Willow Tree Drawing Step by Step Tutorial

Willow Tree Drawing easy with this how-to video and step-by-step drawing instructions. How to draw a tree for beginners and everyone.

Willow Tree Drawing

Please see the drawing tutorial in the video below

You will start at the bottom and then work your way up. Start by creating some lines. As you know willow trees have amazingly large roots that grow on the ground. You will need to draw a baseline for the roots, then draw two more lines for the trunk and limbs.

Start using the instructions that you drew in step one by sketching the thick roots, and then draw the trunk of the tree.

Instead of drawing individual branches, I decided to make the limbs and leaves look like soft hairs. Start outlining the four parts of the limbs as you see here and make sure to draw them as if they were crying.

Continue sketching more and more parts of the willow as you see here, and remember to make the rest thicker, larger, and longer.

Continue sketching each layer until finished. You will notice that this willow will start to look like a layered wedding cake.

As you move up the tree, the limb layers become smaller and smaller. When you sketch the limbs and hair like a leaf, you also need to outline the details and define the texture at the same time. When your tree looks like the one you see here, move on to step seven.

I believe you have reached the final drawing step. Now all you have to do is outline the final top layer and then make sure to detail the willow so it looks absolutely beautiful. This is a great plant to use as an ornamental or landscape. Delete any visible rules or shapes.

Here’s what your tree will look like when you’re done. Now you can color it and use what you just learned to decorate your next landscape sketch.

Step 2.

Begin utilizing the guidelines you drew in step one by sketching out the thick roots, and then draw out the trunk of the tree.

Step 3.

Instead of drawing individual branches, I’ve decided to make the limbs and leaves resemble limp chunks of hair. Begin sketching out the four sections of limbs like you see here and be sure to make them look like they are weeping.

Step 4.

Continue to sketch out more and more sections of the willow tree like you see here, and be sure to make some section thicker, larger, and longer then the rest.
