ENORME studio designs an outer space-like exhibition featuring nine ‘astral bodies’

‘astral bodies’, an immersive exhibition designed by ENORME studio and VITAMIN ARTE, has been featured at valencia design week 2019. inspired by meteorites of different masses that enter the earth’s surface, the spanish studios designed nine meteorite models using ‘fibracolor’ — colored MDF boards manufactured by FINSA. the installation was previously presented during milan design week 2019.

each ‘astral body’ highlights a unique story behind its landing on the galician geography by revealing its physical properties, such as color, texture, and the composition of the ‘fibracolor’ boards. ‘when a meteorite touches earth it is baptized with the name where it was found. this is the case of auria, baroña, cervo, ézaro, allariz, herbón, elviña, sálvora and trevinca.’ tells ENORME studio.

curated to appear as an outer space-like environment, the meteors are grounded on gravel and stones with a backdrop that resembles stars. the exhibition is also complemented by various interactive installations including an informative desk in the center that explains the in-depth stories behind each meteor, and 35 LED tube light fixtures by VITAMIN ARTE that are programmed to emulate the fall of the meteorites on earth. to create a greater ambiance, real time audio recordings of the meteorites can be heard in the background.

the studios successfully demonstrate the potentials of the ‘fibracolor’ MDF boards, especially for decoration and interior design purposes. ‘t his DM colored in mass provides aesthetic and functional novelties,’ describes ENORME studios ‘it can be covered with natural veneer or melamine, and allows the application of textures on the surface. t he treatment of its surface with lacquers, waxes and varnishes is also a new possibility to work with this new material. since it is mass colored allows pantography, mechanization and leaves the board core as an aesthetic value.’

Utility Component Breakdown

Utility components are any components that are not weapons, whether targetable or a part of a parent component.

A component of the ships hull, armour is not, in and of itself, targetable. It is only destroyed when the ship is destroyed. Most Size Large ships have two armour slots; one for ship armour, and one for Ram mounts.

A ship may not install armour of a different size than it.

The various rams are available in most sizes, unless otherwise specified. You cannot install a ram and other nose mounted components.

Damage Control Unit

The DCU bonuses are determined by the size of the DCU, and potential rare component finds that confer unique benefits.

Pulse Shield bonuses are determined by the size of the component and any potential unique item bonuses. A ship may install a shield of any size; however, larger pulse shields require more power. If you install a pulse shield larger than your ship, its recharge time changes to 1 charge/X days, where X is the number of sizes larger the pulse shield is.

Pulse Shields are not considered part of a targetable component.

Sensors

While there exist much rarer sensors by the great technomancers of old out there to be found, modern astral ships come with a standard sensor, allowing you to add your ships WIS modifier to perception checks using the scanner, and to use it to perform the operator sensors action, including allowing a chance to detect and block scans.

A ship with a non-standard, sized sensor adds a bonus to to their ships wisdom score, and may find it comes with extra abilities.

Some sensors may be modified, or replaced with one with the ability, to allow jamming transmissions

Sensors can be destroyed either by destroying the bridge, or by targeting the Sensor and Comms array.
