With the help of this lesson on how to draw a llama, you can draw another animal – an alpaca. The fact is that these two animals are very similar to each other, and therefore they are drawn about the same.

Among other things, this tutorial will help a young artist learn how to create contours and geometric shapes using wavy lines. Please note that all the outlines of the llama are composed of wavy and uneven lines. It seems as if the llama is made of cotton wool or coffee foam.

The nine easy steps of this tutorial are traditionally made up of really simple lines and shapes. In addition, I have kept the proportionality of the complexity of the stages. Throughout the entire instruction, the young artist will not face an increase in complexity and will be able to cope with the task without any problems.

So, if you’re ready, then let’s get started!

In this simple lesson, you will learn how to draw a Llama. This guide consists of just a few simple steps.

Today we will show in detail how to draw a Llama. Drawing animals is always fun, and we hope you enjoy this lesson. Llama is a pack animal native to South America.

Llama is a relative of the camel and bears some resemblance to this animal. Llamas can carry large loads along steep mountain paths. The Llama has very thick wool, and warm blankets and rugs are made from it.

These are smart animals that are easy to train. Llamas cannot live alone and always live in a herd. If the Llama is offended, then she can spit on her offender, just as a camel does.

Prepare the base. With thin lines draw three circles of different sizes, this way you will determine the size and location of the main parts of the body.

Add the back and limbs. Draw a smooth line along the upper edge that will connect all the main parts of the body. Depict a few lines at the bottom to determine the position of the limbs.

Depict the front part of the head and the lower part of the torso. On the head, draw a protruding front. With smooth curved lines draw the neck, thoracic region and belly.

Sketch out the elements of the muzzle. Draw the small eye of the same shape as shown in the example. With a smooth line, draw a wide upper lip that protrudes slightly forward.

Depict the ears and refine the shape of the head. Draw two pointed ears that point forward a little. Draw a small, curved line at the bottom to depict a natural curve.

Add the front legs. Use the lines you prepared ahead of time as guides and draw the thickness of the front legs. The legs are wide at the base and narrow at the bottom.

Draw the bottom of the legs. Llamas are considered ungulates, but their hooves are two toes with hard soles. Using curved lines, depict these parts of the legs.

Depict the hind leg. The shape of the back leg is slightly different from the shape of the front legs. It has a wider base and a more curved outer contour.

Sketch out the bottom of the back leg and add the fur. You have already learned how to draw the lower part of the llama’s leg, so you can easily repeat your steps. Using short strokes, draw the fur on the belly.

Add the tail. The Llama has a small tail, but it is covered with thick hair, so it seems more voluminous. Use small, short strokes and draw a semicircular shaped tail.

Erase extra lines. Now all the main contours are ready, and you can delete the auxiliary lines. Do this very carefully so as not to accidentally damage important lines.

Color the Llama. Llamas come in four colors—brown, cream, gray, or white. In this case, we used gray, but you can choose any color you want. Don’t forget to add shadows.

All steps have been completed and now you can admire your drawing. If you did everything right, then you should have a beautiful llama. Share your impressions in the comments. We look forward to your feedback!
