And one of my favorite treats that doubled as a party favor were these gourmet candy apples, decorated and packaged to perfection!
Creative Ideas for an Art and Painting Party
Ever since my children could hold a paintbrush, they’ve loved art! There’s just something about an easel, paint and the freedom to put their dreams and ideas down on paper that captivates a child’s creativity. That’s why one of my favorite birthday themes for young artists is a Painting Party! I can’t wait to share all the gorgeous details of this artistic 5th birthday party with you. Take a look…
We have a well-worn and well-loved painting easel in our playroom and every time I see it, I’m reminded of the simple joy my children derive from painting. It’s a beautiful thing to give a child a blank canvas and some paint! They imagine the most fantastic scenes and paint with confidence every singe time. If you have a little artist at home, why not throw them a Painting Birthday Party with their friends? Go ahead and grab our Party Planning Checklist then begin scrolling through these lovely party pictures to begin planning your next event.
Artist Painting Party Invitations
Every great party starts with the perfect invitation and this party theme means you can choose something bright, colorful and creative! Whether you go with “Dress for a Mess,” “Calling all Artists” or “Art Party” wording, any of these invitations would give you a solid foundation to build from.
Painting Party Decoration Ideas
The creativity that Top Notch Celebrations and Kimbitious Kreationz put into Kyndall’s party was astounding! There are so many special decor details, it’s hard to know where to look first! Let’s start with the guest tables, though because the rainbow colors and decor really catch your eye.
The white tablecloth was the perfect canvas for a rainbow colored balloon centerpiece. Did you notice that a silver paint can appears to be pouring red paint (in the form of tissue paper) out onto the table to start off the rainbow centerpiece? So creative!
Each place setting featured an artist’s palette plate, custom napkin with a sparkly silver five, a clear tumbler with matching bow, as well as paints and paintbrushes packaged beautifully in a clear paint can ready to use on that white mini canvas in front of them. I love how each place setting featured it’s own unique color too.
Each white chair was wrapped in a beautiful matching bow and a keepsake party favor bag hung on the chair so the children could carry home all their goodies after the festivities concluded.

Art Party Theme Food
Now for the fun part, to make colorful food!
To create an amazing party make sure you add lots of color and quirky art themed food.
Here is our list of painting party food ideas.
Paint Brush Snacks
These rice krispie treats are turned into delicious art paintbrushes with popsicle sticks and white chocolate dyed in bright colors.
The kids had a blast helping me make them! Just make a hole with the knife to slide the popsicle stick in and let the kids cover them in “paint” by dipping the krispies into the colored chocolate. Put them on grease paper to cool down.
Creative Juice
Make your child’s favorite juice into “creative juice”. Or even fill with water but add icecubes dyed with drops of food dye.
Cupcake Sprinkle Splatter
Why not keep with the creative theme and get the kids to decorate their own cupcakes.
This was one of our paint party games but I am mentioning it here since it is edible. Keep reading for more activities.
The cupcake is super easy to make. Just frost your plain vanilla cupcakes.
Fill cups with various colorful sprinkles, candy and other fun decorations. The kids can splat the colors or just carefully place them to make a portrait.
If you want a healthier party food option you could chop up colorful fruit to decorate a yummy healthy muffin.

Art Party Cake
Anything goes with a fun art party theme cake. Just be sure to make it bright.
We love the fact you can get away without perfection with this theme. We created this art cake with a basic chocolate bundt cake and royal icing, dyed with bright colors drizzled over the top.
Messy, fun and delicious. As you can see everybody loved it!
