Beautiful African sunset glows in this arid river bed with tree trunks. In this photograph, the fierce orange light mixed with a bit of yellow shines over the ground of a river bed. The African sunset colors are beautifully spread with the dust floating in the air around the tree trunks. The subject is a broken tree trunk standing in a dry river bed emphasized by the glow of orange. What makes the dust? It is not the wind. It is about 800-1000 zebras, wildebeests, and giraffes, creating this scenario.

African Sunset And Tree Trunks

Witnessing this spectacle of wildlife whirling up so much dust is impressive. The beautiful sunset colors of red and orange light shining through the dust cloud. The colors of the setting sun made the scene glow fabulously. Tree trunks are casting shadows on the ground. Waves on the riverbed floor are glowing in red and orange. Indeed a colorful and mysterious landscape photograph. Surprisingly, as fast as the wildlife appeared, they disappeared.

The African sunset with the tree trunks we photographed in Makgadikgadi Pans, Botswana. Indeed the Makgadikgadi Pans are endless vast white plains. However, during the rainy season, they come to life with endless grasses and water. Birds are thriving, and it also brings herds of game. African sky filled with vibrant sunset colors are just as beautiful against the grassy plains.

There is a lot of heat and sunshine in Africa, too much, in my opinion. I haven’t even been to Africa, south of Egypt, but even there, the daytime sun seems to burn the earth, the stones, and the buildings to the ground. And at sunset, the sun is glorious. It colours everything around in shades of yellow, like molten gold and red, from a light red to a dark red, like a ruby. I share with you my delight at seeing the sunset.
The sides of the painting are covered with paint in the same colours as the painting itself.

My love of art was formed at an early age. My father amassed a good collection of art cards and albums. From the age of 5 I was introduced to artists such as Degas, Rembrandt, Renoir, Levitan and many others.

My family was convinced that I had an aptitude for the exact sciences (it was in fact true), so I did not develop my artistic inclinations.

After school I entered a technical college. At the institute, as an elective in descriptive geometry we were taught the basics of drawing and composition. These seminars were conducted by a talented Chelyabinsk architect.

These seminars fascinated me, I learned how to convey the volume of simple objects.

I went to the Chelyabinsk Art School at a mature age, on a paid course for adults.

I started oil painting not long ago, when I retired. I had the time to do something that has fascinated me since I was a child. But I didn’t have the opportunity.

Oil painting has opened up new horizons for me. And now I paint occasionally in acrylics and pastels. Pastel is my second favorite medium after oil.

There are many styles in painting, but I have two that I can’t choose between. And I do not want to.

I love the nature of our Ural. But the sea and mountains also attract me. Recently I started painting seascapes. But not too realistically, I fantasize a bit.

Before the pandemic, I travelled not only to Russia but also to other countries. Every impression, every memory, at least in a small piece, is fused into my paintings.

I love Impressionism and Realism. I often don’t know which to prefer. That’s why my paintings don’t follow one style clearly. Sometimes I start painting in a strictly realistic manner, but then suddenly I have a dab hand in my hand and I forget about realism.

However, most of my landscapes are impressionistic and my still life paintings are realistic. I don’t know why this happens. I think my intuition knows better where to lead me in painting.

In September 2021 my personal exhibition “Mosaic of Impressions” was held in the showroom of Chelyabinsk Regional Court Museum.

Before that I placed the works on the Russian and foreign Internet resources, including English online gallery ARTFINDER.

Some of my paintings are in private collections in Russia, the United States, Britain and Israel.
