Bald Eagles Photos
All of our Bald Eagle photos were captured in the Alaska wild, mostly on the Kenai Peninsula. It is a pleasure to watch such magnificent birds. I am fortunate to live in a place with a large population of Eagles. There are numerous nests in and around Seward, and it is not uncommon to have Eagles sitting in the tree near our house, and on occasion, in our backyard.
A mature Bald Eagle is easily recognized by its white head. Juvenile bald eagles are a mixture of brown and white and will not develop adult plumage, including the white head feathers, until they reach maturity at 4 to 5 years of age. With a wing span of up to 7.5 feet and weighing between 8 to 14 pounds the Bald Eagle is Alaska’s largest resident bird of prey.
