Metallic sheen paint for canvas

What is the difference between metallic paint and normal paint? Although normal paint can be tinted to colours like silver and gold, it does not carry that sparkle and shine which is characteristic of metallic gold paint and silver metallic paint. Normal (acrylic) paint has a range of sheens, from flat to glossy, whereas metallic paints are always glossy and glittery. Our acrylic craft paints are available in a wider variety of pre-mixed colours than our metallic paints, but with the help of a paint palette, the only limit to colours is your imagination!

I personally love the Interference and Iridescent metallic paints by Golden. Fluids can be applied as a glaze over colours to give a lovely metallic sheen or use the Heavy Body versions to give a wonderful, deep shine. Have a look at Golden’s Website. Hope this helps.

Have you asked those artists what brands they are using? If I see an artist’s work that I really like the colours, I’ll ask & I’ve never not been told what they use…artists are very friendly & happy to share what they have found to be good sources & materials.:D

I like that you use metallic paint. I have wondered why I have not been able to find any “jewel” colors in oil except in silver and gold. I was wondering if metallics came in purples and reds..and greens and blues? Does anyone know if they do? I have always wanted use jewel colors for the unrepersentional pieces I’ve been working on. I don’t have money now. I just bought large tubes of purple and blue hues. It’s intesting to know “they” are out there. Good luck with finding what you need.. It’s a possiblity of writing or searching paint company websites. Also if you go to a craftsmen and supply store they are helpful and may be able to order them for you. The chain stores such as Hobby Lobby and Micheals are not always the most helpful..guess it depends where you shop..the stores in Rockford are not helpful..but now I’m in Wiscosin and it’s a whole new better “wonderful” world… oh example windsor and Newton you could try to search to company online..I looked at Graphics Chemical companay and they helped me and replied to my e-mail. Well pearl art stores help also..I’m sure there are private art stores that may be able to help as well…hoping you the best.. sincerely ~Chrisjdw:o
