Pouring paint to depict floral imagery

Floral Futurism

Recently the artist began incorporating themes of nature and floral imagery into his abstract futurism motifs. This resulted in an exploration of comfort, memory, and a continued dialogue of displacement and identity.

This exhibition includes 12 large scale paintings and the artist’s first multi-media floral installation using paint, canvas, metal chains, black string and linked audio.

STATEMENT:
FLORAL FUTURISM a new series of work on tapestry like canvas and a mixed media installation piece. Adnan Razvi’s Abstract Calligraffiti forms act as the base layer for ‘Floral Futurism’, a collection of work addressing experiences of physical and cultural displacement that exist in the past, present and future. Abstract Calligraffiti consists of swahili/arabesque abstract motifs that on first glance may recall ancient letters or text, yet serve as a visual tool only without any verbal connotation. Adnan reclaims the ancient cultural forms by revealing the viewer’s assumptions, and sharing the sense of loss of language wrought by displacement. His transmogrified forms are a parallel to loss of language due to being displaced from home and origin.

Floral Futurism builds upon a narrative of emotional reflection. The enveloping forms travel and melt with psychedelic movement, resulting in a futuristic effect that is completely original in style.

Adnan often references memory, comfort and identity in his paintings. In this body of work, flowers represent memories and comfort, a sentiment known universally. Yet although the significance of flowers is recognized, they also carry volumes of use, meaning and history that cannot be fully conceptualized.

Adnan’s ‘Floral Futurism’ exhibition is his first solo show, a collection of 12 tapestry like paintings and one installation which relates to social justice and commentary on forced displacement. Utilizing ancient forms melded with futuristic techniques; the artist seamlessly creates an enveloping environment which allows viewers to become engulfed in the deeper meaning of each work.

The artist introduces a new perspective utilizing his motifs for cultural bridge building, community dialogue, and understanding. Floral abstract motifs are his current practice of expression to captivate a viewer and engage in conversation around cultural displacement. Also included in the exhibit is the artist’s first sculptural/community engagement piece addressing forced displacement. The piece was added to influence the dialogue around historical and active displacement; which has impacts that permeate unbelievably far and wide.

I’m an experimental contemporary artist from Slovenia.
I like to experiment with different fluid art techniques and materials and follow the natural paint flow with all its unpredictability.
The biggest inspiration for my art is Nature, so I try to pour those colour combinations energy and beauty on canvas.
In my early ages I painted with a brushes and chalks, but I always felt limited in those art forms. But all that changed in the year 2018, when I discovered Fluid art. I was able to let my imagination run wild and pour it out on the canvas. I have finally found my place in art that perfects and makes me happy. And what could be nicer than sharing this with others through my artwork. Because of this, I also decided to share my artistic path on youtube, where I am happy to share my passion and knowledge with more than a quarter of a million people from all over the world.
Join me on my Fluid art journey!
