What you’ll do

Work-Shop’s famous Watercolour and Wine class is coming to Darling Square! Join our resident sunflower, Sally Ann Conwell, in an evening of relaxing painting, a couple of glasses of vino and all-around good vibes.

You can be a complete beginner or maybe you’ve got some prior painting experience. No matter, you will have a blast at this class that will teach you the practical skills and techniques used in watercolour painting, along with a killer playlist, lots of laughs and a little bit o’wine.

You will learn about the specific properties of watercolour paint, and develop practical skills and techniques in paint application, brush-work, colour mixing, rendering light and shade, tonal value, and design in watercolour painting.

By the end of the class, students will have completed two of their own watercolour paintings, and be able to take their new skills to continue developing in their own style, in this particular medium.

Please note: This class requires at least six students to run. In the unlikely event that we don’t get this number of students, we’ll cancel the class and fully refund you and inform you via email, so please watch your email a few days prior to the class.

What you’ll get

  • Selection of watercolour brushes
  • Photos, objects, flowers and other sources of inspiration
  • A glass of wine on arrival and the opportunity to purchase more should you wish

Your teacher

Sally Conwell

From a young age in the suburbs of South Sydney, Sally was busy getting paint on her mothers carpet. Before the age of 22 she had completed two scholarship residencies in France, and launched a bizarre range of greeting cards that make very little sense, under the name Sit Still Sally.

She can’t actually sit still, and each work is different from the last. Sally completed studies in Fine Arts at the College of Fine Arts, with a focus on oils and watercolours, and continues to work as a practising, emerging artist in Sydney’s inner west.

With any time left over, she likes to dabble in the world of illustration, design, and other crafty things, inspired by everything nonsensical, colourful and wonderful.
