HP Designjet 1000 Series Printers – Pure Blue Colors Have a Purple Tint

When printing to an HP Designjet 1000 series printer using the Windows driver [not PostScript (R)], pure blue colors may appear to have a purple tint.

Workaround

  1. In the printer Properties window, choose HP Designjet 1000 HPGL/2 driver.
  2. Right-mouse click and select Document Defaults .
  3. Select the Options tab.
  4. Select No Color Correction in the HP-GL/2 driver .
  5. Set to Manual Color .
  6. Choose Color Control and set to No Color Correction .

Cause

This is due to the effect of the Color Map that modifies the colors to appear, in pictures, closer to the screen and more suitable perceptually. This may happen with colors other than blue as well.

There are many variables that can affect the color output of the printer, below are a few additional things to check:

  • Ensure HP supported media is being used and Best print quality mode is selected
  • Third party media may interact differently with the HP inks (try HP supported media)
  • Ensure that the correct media type is selected when the media is loaded
  • The primary color values in the application may not be appropriate for the desired output. If the Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and black (CMYK) values are incorrect, the color output of the printer may not be as desired. Example, pure blue may have the following values (0 – 100) C=80, M=0, Y=0, k=0. Purple, may have C=65, M=50, Y=0, K=0. In a case such as this, the colors would have to be adjusted within the application.

note:

Keep in mind the output of a monitor is in RGB and the output of the printer is in CMYK. The printer and driver will attempt to emulate and match the RGB color with CMYK, as closely as possible, but due to the printer and ink limitations, some colors will not be within the color gamut of the printer.

Tips for Decorating With Yellow

Yellow is a cheery color, often brightening spaces, but the type of yellow matters since it comes in different tones that can also darken, like deeper mustard tones. Play with mixing other yellows, using complementary colors, and making allowances for different lighting situations.

  • Find the right shade: Warmer, darker yellow shades go well with blue and green, while cooler, brighter yellow shades pair better with pink and orange. A bright yellow might be too stimulating for a room like a bedroom, while pale yellow can be cheery but relaxing.
  • Try different pairings: Colors complementary with yellow or opposite yellow on the color wheel are blue and purple, but you can also pair them with orange, red, white, pink, green, and brown.
  • Consider the lighting: A bright, sunny room decorated with yellow can appear even brighter and more intense. When a room is dark, yellow tones often appear more orange.
  • Mix different yellows: You can add depth to a room by mixing different yellow shades, such as pairing a bold, neon yellow with a subdued mustard yellow for a nice contrast.
  • Make it personal: Have fun decorating your space by incorporating special pieces that mean something to you into your decor.

Yellow + White

Yellow and white bedding

A dash of yellow is a great way to enhance an all-white interior. In this fresh contemporary bedroom, a mustard velvet throw pillow and a curry yellow knot pillow wake up the white linens and marry well with the warm wood headboard and rustic chic tree stump bedside table. A simple white standing task lamp for reading and a few black accents add balance and a graphic note.

Yellow + Navy Blue

Yellow and navy blue, or better yet, a navy and gold combination, works well with the yellow tones by lightening the dark navy color, removing the gloom, and replacing it with opulence. It’s a timeless pairing associated with rulers and monarchs throughout history. You can use navy for a large anchor piece in your space like a sofa or rug—and balance it out with a zingy mustard yellow accent chair or decorative pillows.

Dusky Purple Paint Colours

Gothic Amethyst
Musing neutral dusty violet purple
Princess Castle
Dusty rose and peony purple
Pink Potion
Midtone subdued dusty violet purple
Heathcliff
Shaded dusty violet purple with mauve tint

To begin with, Gothic Amethyst is saturated, dusty violet purple. Many people discover its neutral tonality works well with its mauve undertone. Good for dressing rooms and reading rooms, it has a classic feel. Another dusky purple that reviews well is Princess Castle. This dusty rose-purple with a peony undertone is another fine choice as a ceiling paint.

In terms of dining rooms, Pink Potion constitutes a perfect mid-tone choice. Buy it if you want your white trim to pop against its dusty violet-mauve purple appearance.

Grey Purple Paint Colours

Silver Wedding
Soft subdued enchanting misty purple
Glistening Grey
Silken neutral mulberry purple
Amethyst Haze
Shiny mulberry purple with royal blue tint

If you want the perfect purple wall but aren’t sure whether one would suit your home, then a grey-purple paint is a good place to start. With a misty undertone, Silver Wedding seemingly filters the light that reflects off it with a soft shimmer. Meanwhile, Glistening Grey is a mulberry purple with a royal blue undertone that can save walls from looking drab without being too in your face.

Where Does Purple Paint Work Best?

There is no perfect way of describing the best purple paint application but if you are talking about interior décor, then the feature wall approach has to be part of the discussion. Rich purples with a matt finish make great backdrops for visual art, especially paintings with bold, metal frames. Just one rich purple wall in a bedroom or lounge can really alter its character.

If you have a smaller space or one that doesn’t see much natural sunlight, then opt for a more soothing pastel or light purple colour. Such shades will line up well with white architraves, white doors and white skirting boards which can help save time if you don’t want to repaint those features to accommodate your new colour choice.
