step-by-step

Patrick making a step-by-step illustration

Because of the “lack of options”, using sketch doesn’t mean that you won’t need to learn how to use adobe softwares because it depends on what kind of job you are applying (employee, freelancer, ux/ui designer, solo or in a team, a “fullstack” designer, …).

Discovering Sketch

Here is my first experience doing a landing page with Sketch.

First I imported a picture and blurred it.

Then I added a png file, here a random logo I made, and “voilà”… My first landing/loading page .

Let’s do the login page now…

First thing first, set a background color.

Then I imported a picture and masked it with a circle shape so it will look like a profile picture and added some shadow effect.

Last thing, I created the two text fields and the login button. Then, I looked on thenounproject website for some logos (username, lock and sendmail) and imported as svg files so I can changed it to my taste.

Sketch Exercice Kata

On this exercice, the goal is to understand and use the full potential of Sketch for designing assets such as logo, vector objects, buttons,… . To achieve this, the only way is by experiencing. At the end we have to submit a rocket like the one below.

The Moon . Here you will see my walkthrough of designing the Moon.

  • Step 1 : Create 2 basic shapes (2 circles).
  • Step 2 : Apply a boolean operation (subtract). So we can obtain a crescent moon.
  • Step 3 : Add some outline and radial gradient.
  • Step 4 : Lets explore an other way to design the moon

Fashion Design Drawing and Presentation – Softcover

9780713435191: Fashion Design Drawing and Presentation

‘What distinguishes Mr Ireland’s book from many other figure-drawing text books is the illustrated step-by-step method of making fabric fall naturally in response to body movements.’ Sunday Telegraph ‘It is just the book for anyone who wants to draw clothes to wear.’ Housecraft The book covers all aspects of fashion: menswear and women’s wear along with clothes for children. It deals with faces and hairstyles, head and hats; with fashion details such as collars, sleeves, skirts, pleats and folds; and with the wide variety of materials, and their individual qualities out of which fashion is created. There are also sections on the rather different approach to fashion illustration necessary for advertising, and on the most persuasive way in which the drawings themselves should be presented. In addition to the author’s own diagrams and drawings the illustrations include a selection of old photographs and fashion plates.
