Ocean Resin Art: A Comprehensive Guide by Super Epoxy Systems

Ocean resin art is an expression of art that involves using resin to make breathtaking pieces that resemble the appearance and sensation of the ocean. It can fashion a range of objects, from serving trays, to wall decor, with countless possibilities. The utilization of resin in marine art generates a lustrous and gorgeous finish that captures the essence of the sea and its waves.

The use of premium-grade epoxy resin is essential when fashioning ocean resin art. It guarantees that the final creation is sturdy, long-lasting, and boasts a stunning finish. Inferior and low-grade resins may produce a blurry and uninspiring final product that lacks the same level of detail and charm as a piece made with high-quality resin.

Whether you are a seasoned resin artisan or just starting, this article will equip you with the information and tools required to make magnificent ocean art pieces. Our aim is to motivate and inspire creativity and provide a comprehensive guide for those keen on delving into this form of art. Techniques for Creating Ocean Resin Art

Crafting stunning ocean resin art requires utilizing various techniques to achieve the desired result. Here are some popular techniques that artists use:

  • Combining multiple resin shades: Blending a variety of colored resins is a fantastic way to bring depth and allure to your ocean resin art. You can combine blues to imitate the ocean’s depth and create the appearance of waves. Also, layering different shades of blue can create a sense of distance, giving your piece a more realistic touch. Our Supercolors Liquid Pigments are our go-to choice for tinting epoxy!
  • Incorporating ocean-inspired embellishments: Enhancing your resin with ocean-inspired embellishments such as shells, sand, stones, or dried flowers is a great way to add texture and appeal to your art. These items can be added to the resin before it solidifies, resulting in a one-of-a-kind, captivating piece.
  • Employing transfer films or molds: Transfer films and molds are a creative way to produce unique patterns and shapes in your ocean resin art. You can find a variety of designs, from abstract shapes to realistic ocean scenes, by using transfer films and molds. They are convenient to use and can be purchased online or from your local arts and crafts store.
  • Infusing pigments or dyes: Incorporating pigments, mica powders, or dyes into your resin is an excellent way to add color to your ocean resin art. This method gives you the flexibility to create a wide range of shades and hues, making your piece truly unique. You can add a small amount of pigment or dye to your resin, or you can create an entire piece using just one color – the choice is yours!

When it comes to creating ocean resin art, there are countless techniques you can employ. From combining resin shades, incorporating ocean-inspired embellishments, using transfer films or molds, to infusing pigments or dyes, the possibilities are endless. With Designer Art Resin and a dash of imagination, the final product will always be stunning.

Microwave the bowl and mixture for one minute. Give it a quick stir and then, microwave it for another minute. The mixture should now be slightly thickened.Continue microwaving the mixture in 20 second intervals, stirring between each interval. When the mixture starts to look like mashed potatoes, take it out of the microwave and cover it with a wet paper towel to let it cool down.Tip: Be careful when handling the bowl as it will be hot! Alternative option: If you would like, you can also cook the mixture on the stove until it has thickened.

Once the dough is cool to the touch, knead it a bit until it has a well-mixed, smooth consistency. If the dough is too dry, knead in a little water. If the dough is too wet, try sprinkling in a bit of baking soda (not too much though!).Once the dough is ready, follow along below to create some cool sea formations!

Step 4

Starfish: Roll out five teardrop shapes to form the base. Add a bumpy texture by adding small spheres.

Step 5

Sand dollar: Roll a round ball of dough and flatten it. With a pencil tip, gently outline a flower shape in a dotted pattern. Poke out holes to add additional details along the edges.
