Snowman Shooting Star Craft w/White Sidewalk Chalk
With the winter season here and us spending more time indoors, sadly the chalk that was once loved during the summer season won’t be getting used as much. In fact, you might even toss the old chalk stash and just make a mental note to buy a few new packs next summer
As I’ve said before and I’ll say it again WAIT! Don’t be so quick to get rid of those chalk remnants! They are still good and very much still useful, even during the cold months. And with this latest crafting tutorial from us, I challenge YOU to bring them all indoors, as you recreate our chalk art idea where we turned our shooting star into a fun snowman friend!
Now hear me out. I’m not crazy. This is the BEST part of everything. Our super fun DIY snowman shooting star design craft is going to be really inexpensive to recreate. Possibly even FREE. Can I get an amen since we are all probably pinching our pennies because of Christmas right now?! You more than likely have everything you need right now, so it’s just a matter of pulling it all out!
All you need is a few pieces of white chalk, dark colored construction paper and our free star printable listed below. That’s it! And since the supplies are really simple, I could see this DIY being done in large crowd setting like a children’s holiday party, at a sleepover and even in the classroom for a winter lesson plan. Even adults can participate this one!

Make this paper & chalk snowman shooting star craft to bring some fun and cheer to the season.
Craft Supplies:
- Star Printable – on our landing page
- White Cardstock Paper
- Color Printer
- Crayons, Pencils, Markers etc.
- Scissors
- Colored Cardstock Paper
- White Sidewalk Chalk
- Baby Wipes
- Adhesive
- Snowflake Stickers
- First things first – grab our free blank snowman star shape printable, listed above in the supply list.
- Next, go ahead and find it on your computer, right click and print the file on a single sheet of white cardstock paper. One print will give you TWO shooting stars, so you will be able to do the craft TWICE today. Print as many as you like but only use our file for personal use only please.
- Now that you have the printable, go ahead and use your craft scissors to trim out one of the star shapes.
- Set aside the leftover paper piece with the other star design in it, so you can repeat the craft later.
- Now grab your markers, cardstock scraps etc. to decorate the star shape to look like a snowman. Go to town and make him look however you like!
- When done, set it aside for a bit.
- Now grab a single sheet of dark colored cardstock and your white colored chalk.
- Starting on one side of the paper, make several curved lines to create a rainbow coming from one edge of the paper. Add as many lines and colors as you like.
- When done with the chalk, use baby wipes to clean off excess chalk from fingers and hands.
- Now grab your star cutout and choice of adhesive
- Secure you decorated paper star piece in the corner of the paper, so it looks like your snowman star is shooting out of it.
- Add any other embellishments you see fit
- Then display your custom one-of-a-kind paper snowman shooting star piece proudly for all to see!
- Repeat the steps above, the same way, for the second star piece leftover from earlier!
