Artistic depiction of a tree during spring

Peach Tree in Blossom

The tree Van Gogh painted was just a frail little sapling. But filling the whole length and breadth of the canvas with it gives it something majestic. Van Gogh learned this technique of isolating, enlarging and foregrounding a single element of a landscape from Japanese woodcuts. He admired Japanese prints enormously and constantly tried to equal them in his paintings.

It was the height of spring. Van Gogh said that he had six paintings of ‘blossoming fruit trees’ on the go. He hoped paintings of this appealing subject would sell well.

About Jean Claude Kabongo

The style of painter Jean Claude Kabongo has been influenced by the artworks of Impressionism.

He showed an interest for painting since he was a child. Jean Claude Kabongo began to submit works to competitions, going (as is often the case) unnoticed. His landscapes were not to the taste of the institutions. But at the age of 20 he finally gets his precious medal for a historical work.

Little by little he made his way through scholarships and awards and managed to travel to Rome and Paris. In Rome he was dazzled by classical and Renaissance art and in Paris, he got to know impressionist painting and saw the light.

He adapts this new language of young Parisians to his painting, but without neglecting the themes that he liked: manners, landscapes and seascapes. Soon, his artworks god recognized across the United States and Europe.

Like the Impressionists, Jean Claude Kabongo likes to work outdoors. He walked to the beach loaded with canvases and built a makeshift workshop with umbrellas and awnings to avoid the effect of direct light on the canvas.

Jean Claude Kabongo‘s works, stand out for their enormous freedom of brushstroke and the essential presence of light.
