Daler-Rowney Simply Mediums are the perfect complement to the Simply range of acrylics, oils and watercolours.

Low odour thinner.

Low odour thinner, which is a low-odour alternative to turpentine. Dilutes oil colour to create thin, quick drying washes in the early stages of painting. Ideal when working in a confined space or for those artists who find turpentine too strong. It can also be used to clean palettes and brushes. Directions: Mix with oil colours until the required consistency. Also used directly to clean brushes and palettes.

Simply Gesso Primer.

Simply Gesso Primer can be used as a base for both oil and acrylic projects. Directions: Apply a thin layer to the desired surface, and let the Gesso fully dry prior to applying paint.

Masking Fluid.

Simply Art Masking Fluid is used to create striking white highlights or areas for overpainting at a later stage. Directions: Forms a fast-drying, water-resistant film on watercolour paper and board, easily removed when dry by rubbing with an eraser, soft tissue or cotton bud. An old brush, pen or cotton bud should be used to apply the Masking Fluid as it is extremely difficult to remove from brushes when dry.

Pouring Medium.

Simply Pouring Medium is ideal for accessible and affordable pouring and dripping techniques. Create wonderful effects by mixing the medium with Simply Acrylics for optimal results. Directions: Mix with acrylic colours using a 1:4 to 1:8 ratio (colour to medium) depending on the preferred flow.

Structuring Pastes.

A range of structuring pastes with Mother of pearl, Textured, Matt and Gloss which are ideal to work with acrylic colours.

Mother of pearl: is a milky white acrylic gel. Dries silvery-white and slightly transparent with an intense mother-of-pearl shimmer.

Textured: A thick paste which is used to build up heavy layers of texture. It dries to a matt white finish which is ideal for over-painting with acrylic colour.

Matt: A white translucent cream which will increase the transparency of acrylic colour and will dry to a matt finish.

Gloss: A white translucent cream which will increase the transparency of acrylic colour and will dry to a gloss finish.

Directions: Can be applied directly to any surface suitable for acrylic painting or mixed directly with acrylic colours.

Made in England.

Daler-Rowney is particularly proud to continue the long heritage of manufacturing Simply Mediums in the United Kingdom.

Fluid Painting Workshop with Ana Paz

Also known as acrylic pouring, paint pouring, flow art, liquid art.etc

It is a form of abstract art that uses acrylic paints with a runny (fluid) consistency. The acrylic paints react with each other when combined together to make interesting and visually organic motifs. Fluid acrylics can be used on many types of substrates and in many different forms such as pouring, dripping, swirling, and many other effects. Fluid art opens up a lot of possibilities and is definitely worth exploring.
Free-flowing liquid paints and mediums are at the heart of the pouring process. Adjusting the viscosity and flow rate to work in tandem with how you want the paints to interact with each other is key.
In this course I will teach you :

  • Supplies you need to start Fluid Painting
  • Workplace / preparation
  • Different Pouring Mediums (additives for good flow characteristics)
  • Use of silicone – mixing technique and impact
  • Paint Consistency
  • Paint Transparency ( opacity of the paints / effects)
  • Choosing the right colors
  • Different techniques (12 ) that I use like: dirty pour, flip cup, string, swipe technique and more. In this Workshop, Ana will show you 3 techniques: Flower Pour, Deep Pour, Chain Pulling. Learn more about all the different techniques HERE.
  • Tips On Drying
  • Varnishing your artwork

What is special about this workshop is not just the fun of playing with high flow acrylic paint, it’s learning how to work with different mediums and weave more art into your life. My techniques and exercises are geared to helping people reclaim or expand their sense of experimentation, wonder, and fun. You’ll see how making art regularly will help keep your creative juices flowing.

This is not a typical „guided event“. There will be no step-by-step instructions for a particular painting. Instead, Ana Paz will show you some techniques and tricks and encourage you to paint intuitively and freely.

Good to know about this Workshop:

No prior Painting experience necessary
4 canvases (3x 20x20cm, 1x 25x30cm) and all other painting materials are provided and included in the ticket price. Additional canvases & paint are available at the studio (15-30CHF per canvas)
Important: For optimal drying process and avoiding any changes to your painting, we recommend that you leave your artwork in the studio at least overnight and pick it up at later. Alternatively we can also pack it and ship it to you for an additional 15 CHF per parcel (payable at the workshop in cash or TWINT). If you want to take your artwork home right away, that’s definitely also possible but „at your own risk“ (needs to be transported as horizontal as possible).
Do you like shiny things? We’ve got pearly, silver, copper and golden acrylic Paint!
Our Acrylic paint comes from the Swiss Art Supply store fleury-art.com
Language of Instruction: English

Please note: This event will take place only if at least 5 people sign up 48hrs before the event. In case of cancellation, guests with a ticket will get a notification via email. The ticket can be refunded completely or rescheduled.

Some further examples (every painting created in the workshop will be completely unique and of course you choose your own colors):
