15 Easy Rose Drawing Ideas
Here’s a compilation of easy rose drawing ideas to try out in your sketchbook or doodle page.
Roses can be difficult to draw so I tried to simplify them as much as I could.
I have also included several step-by-step tutorials to make them less confusing.
I have a previous rose drawing tutorial, but this one is the new and improved version with more drawing ideas.
I hope that this blog post can help you feel more confident in drawing roses.
Before, roses were very difficult for me to draw, but after finishing this blog post, I feel like I’ve gotten so much better at drawing roses!
I hope you can feel the same way too
Drawing Tip: First start off by creating a pencil sketch of your drawing. Once you are satisfied with your pencil sketch, go over it with an ink pen or whatever medium you prefer. Then once the ink dries, erase the pencil sketch underneath to reveal your finished drawing!
Don’t worry about drawing perfectionism – The more you draw, the better you will get and the more your drawing style will develop.
Instead, focus on losing yourself into creating your drawing and let your day’s stress melt away.
I hope you enjoy. Now let’s get to drawing our roses!

Step by Step Drawing
To start off, here’s a step-by-step drawing of a rose to try.
Step 1 might look complicated but it’s essentially a messy swirly line.
You can draw a more symmetrical-looking swirl but wonky is good too.
For Step 2, draw the rose petals as shown below.
Next, we’re going to draw the bottom of the rose like so!
Next draw a curvy line from one of the petals down to the bottom of the flower.
We’re almost done with our rose drawing!
Next, draw the stem, some leaves and thorns. And feel free to color in your rose drawing whatever color you like!
Didn’t it come out so pretty?! I hope you enjoyed this one ^^
Swirly Rose
This is the way I grew up drawing roses and thought it would be a perfect addition for this blog post.
Below is a step-by-step on how to draw it!
Step One: Finding Inspiration for Your Rose Drawing
Familiarize yourself by looking at a picture of a rose or a rose itself. Study the way the petals surround the bud and how they open up at the ends.
Step Two
Draw an oval shape that’s more narrow on the top. It should look like an egg and this will serve as your “skeleton.”
Step Three
Next, draw a short curved line at the very top of the “egg” that resembles a smile.
