Ron, I think you are likely right here, considering the luminosity he hopes to achieve..and, perhaps for best results should try to keep the brightest areas lighter on his canvas to begin. When I want highlighted areas to be brilliant I wipe the area to white or nearly white from my toned ground on my canvas to begin.

Thanx again for the input. Here is the link to the post in Phot Forum https://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1161432 It shows the effects of 15 different Photoshop8 filters on the same photo. MRKing: why not? I often look at what is around me and imagine it in unrealistic colors. The composition is the basic building block of my art, and the lines and angles on this phot appealed to me, but the red and white Ford was visually too normal for me. I like Art that strikes my eye as original and unique.
That’s why I like this site so much, we all can exchange our ideas, get input and accept or file it away for future work.

these two posts are an example. Alan- I no longer have any flake / lead white. But thanx for the input. Becca- I was thinking this was going to be a 3-6 month project. I sometimes get muddy results when I paint wet-in-wet. I was thinking waiting to paint the colors over the DRY white stripes. I was hoping this would keep the white from changing the color. I have never attempted anything like this, that’s why I am so grateful for all the input. Ron: I think what you posted is spot on. I had not known the long term effects of white over black. and I learned a cool new term. Always so much new info. Thanx 2 all greg

Greg, I think my initial reaction was desire to see how it might work out…but , to be certain of good results, best to approach it conservatively.. Your photos are impressive!
