Painted Christmas decorations for windows is a tradition that originated in the Netherlands, but is now becoming increasingly popular in other countries. edding chalk markers are the perfect choice for embellishing window panes with a whole host of gorgeous motifs such as stars, Christmas trees and angels. And what makes them so practical is that the markings can quickly be removed with a damp cloth, so if you make a mistake or you prefer another design, it’s no problem – simply wipe off and start afresh! edding chalk markers are filled with liquid chalk specially formulated for use on smooth, glossy surfaces such as glass and mirrors. Choose from the fine-nibbed edding 4095 chalk marker and the edding 4090 with its extra-broad nib. There are 10 opaque colours available, including white and a selection of vivid neon shades. Illustrating on glass surfaces is incredibly simple – anyone can achieve great results: simply place a template behind the glass and copy the motif!

Step-by-step
First, clean the window thoroughly. Before using a chalk marker, you need to activate it: Shake the marker vigorously with the cap still on, then remove the cap, place the nib on absorbent paper and pump it up and down a few times until ink appears in the nib. (And don’t forget to always store the marker horizontally after use.) Now you’re ready to get started.
Step 2
If your motifs are rather complex you’ll find it easier to use a paper template: when it’s ready, simply stick it to the back of the window, copy the motif – and you’re done! Or you can draw freehand if you prefer. If you’re not happy with your motif or you make a mistake, simply wipe the window clean with a damp cloth and have another go.
Step 3
Or you may wish to draw your own decorative and colourful window pictures. edding chalk markers are available in nine vibrant shades.
