Wine glasses are essential if you want to drink wine (unless you are at a boring function and need to hide it in a coffee mug). The shape of the wine glass is important to accentuate the aromas and tastes of each type of wine. It just so happened that I had a set of 4 “essential red wine” glasses (like these Red Wine Glasses I found on Amazon) sitting in my closet that I have never used and probably would have never used… until now! While I was researching and writing up my Harry Potter post I came across the most adorable painted wine glass online. I thought to myself “I can do that myself!” and thus I came up with the idea to write a post on how to paint your own wine glass! I have to say it does take a steady hand and some patience, but I know you can do it!

Easy – Harry Potter Wine Glass

Steps to create the Harry Potter wine glass (corresponding to pictures in slideshow above)
- Print & cut out the glasses then tape to the inside of the wine glass (a little lower than the middle of the glass). Paint over in black paint.
- Create his hair. I painted small dots where I wanted the hair parts the start and end points so all I had to do was connect the dots. Paint in the area with black paint.
- Add the lightning bolt scar. I had to practice this a few times before I got it right!
- Alternate red & yellow on the stem. Try to make each layer even.
- Add black lines in between each red & yellow layer and paint the base black.
- Write “Accio Wine!” in yellow on the base of the glass.
- Bake in oven 30 min (allowing glass to heat up and cool down in the oven) or wait 21 days for paint to cure
Moderate – Dog Wine Glass
For this wine glass you need to print the picture of the dog, paws and the text. Click the picture below to be directed to the PDF file.

- Print & cut out the dog then tape to the inside of the wine glass (a little lower than the middle of the glass)
- Paint the base of the dog the main color and add the spot on the back in the 2nd fur color. You can even work on the collar color here too.
- While base of the dog is drying cut out the paws and tape to the inside of the glass in random spots. Paint over with black paint.
- Take out the dog picture and use this as your template for the outline, tongue, ears and other details you need to add to the dog.
- Tape the text near the top of the glass and trace over with paint. This is very hard! The letters are very thin. I needed my Q-tip eraser multiple times to make this look pretty.
- Paint the bottom of your glass in a color of your choosing. Let the glass dry upside down.
- Bake in oven 30 min (allowing glass to heat up and cool down in the oven) or wait 21 days for paint to cure
Hard – Scuba Diver Wine Glass
For this wine glass you need to print the scuba diver, sea animals and text. Click the picture below to be directed to the PDF file.

- Print & cut out the scuba diver then tape to the inside of the wine glass (a little lower than the middle of the glass).
- Paint the diver’s body, tank and fins. Once these dry you can add the details.
- While the diver is drying start on the fish. Tape the pictures in random places around the glass.
- Paint the bodies of the fish. Once these dry you can add the details.
- Tape the text inside the glass and trace over with black paint. This is very hard! The letters are very thin. I needed my Q-tip eraser multiple times to make this look pretty.
- You can tape the pictures of the sea creatures to the base of the glass & pain over them, but I just free handed these while looking at the picture. They were fun.
- Bake in oven 30 min (allowing glass to heat up and cool down in the oven) or wait 21 days for paint to cure.
The last step is to enjoy a glass of wine in your cute wine glass! Cheers!
