We will be in the Old Barn of The Westbury Arts Centre – a spacious and airy room just made for artists. Ticket numbers are limited to 12 maximum.
GIN WILL BE SERVED AT LUNCHTIME.
The Art of Abstract Leaves – You Don’t Need Skill, Just A Desire To Paint
This full day event will be held at Westbury Arts Centre, Foxcovert Road, Shenley Wood, MK5 6AA. As well as our full day painting lessons in Milton Keynes, we also do painting evenings in Pubs and Bars.
The Art of Abstract Leaves technique is simple. You will have a board or a canvas and cover it with acrylic paint to give a nice smooth finish. You will gently paint leaves with a thinned down acrylic paint, and press them gently into a canvas board to leave an impression (pardon the pun). You will then colour in (if you wish) your leaves with a light coloured glaze, and when that has dried do it all again to give you a lovely layered image. Watch the videos below to get an idea.
You will work on 2 or 3 small boards to create as you learn. Once you are happy with your skills you can then start on the larger canvas that you can work on over time.
It doesn’t matter in the least if you haven’t picked up a paint brush or a leaf for years, because you will walk away with your own unique piece of artwork. Our resident artist will take you, step-by-step, though then process of turning your blank canvas into your own special masterpiece. With a glass in one hand, and a paintbrush in the other, your skills will transfer painlessly to the canvas on your easel. You are guaranteed to produce a dramatic painting that you will be proud to hang on your wall.
As always, we provide everything that you need…… a number of small boards, a larger canvas, easel, brushes, paints, aprons, music and a great atmosphere where you can create to your heart’s content.
The event starts at 11.00 am but arrive around 15 minutes early. Grab a seat, grab a cuppa and grab an easel. We start at 11.00, and will definitely by finished by 16.30. Westbury Arts Centre doesn’t have a bar, but GIN WILL BE SERVED at lunchtime. A Subway lunch will also be provided.
Although we provide aprons, it might be worth wearing old clothes (just in case). We are only using Acrylic paints and these dry quite quickly. It will be easy to take your painting homewith or without a frame.

Ticket Prices
Ticket prices of £75.00 for adults and £55.00 for under 18s include ALL materials required, tea, coffee, biscuits, and a Subway lunch. You can buy a frame for £25.00, but you don’t need to.
Car parking is available at Westbury Art Centre grounds.
This Abstract Leaves day is a social event first, and an art lesson second. It’s Fun Art set to music, not Fine Art done dull.
