The same process can be used to create custom Christmas Decorations and Ornaments.

Another Christmas Craft Idea is to make a Ship in a Bottle Ornament. These little replicas can be fashioned to look like almost any boat, yacht or ship. They require a little time and effort but the end result is a very unique and personalized Christmas Ornament. For details on how to craft these tiny maritime masterpieces please refer to either book listed below (both available from Amazon.com).

Snow can be added to the wine glass stem by painting on Glass Etching creme, waiting for 30 seconds and then washing off the creme. Etched glass creates a very nice snow effect.

Use Glass Paint Markers (available at most craft stores) to add detail to the design. For this project the etched areas represent the snow and the paint is used to outline the design. Several layers may be needed. Please refer to Paint manufacturers directions. Most glass paint needs to be baked onto the glass. After baking the paint is top shelf dishwasher safe.

An assortment of designs can be found on the internet. These can be sized to fit your wine glasses and then printed out on any home computer. Next step is to trace the design onto adhesive film. Then using a razor knife cut out the design, removing each section that will get eteched. Be as detailed as possible. On this project we cut on both side of the marker line between the bottom and top snowball. The end result is a thin line of clear glass between each snow ball.

Once the design is cut out. Dap Glass Etching creme (available at most craft stores) onto the entire design. Be sure not to get any onto the glass surrounding the file. This creme has to be left in place for at least 60 seconds.

Before adding any paint clean off the glass with alchohol wipes. This gets rid of any oil which might prevent the paint from adhering to the glass.

After 60 seconds rinse the etching creme off with plenty of fresh water. You can also start to peel the adhesive film at this time.
