Step-by-step guide to painting a red truck
I have the truck stripped down, I will sand everything, clean everything with thinner or the like, tape everything off and paint it.
It is a simple white cab with red fenders, so I think it would be good to learn on.
Questions I have are things like:
What type of paint should I use? A product that you spray a clear at the end by itself or not?
I have heard good things about “emron” or “imron” paint for trucks but I don’t think it uses a clear?
It isn’t a show truck but I want it to look good and something that will hold up.
How many coats do you use and how much time between coats it good?
Spray again while it is still tacky or no?
I know this would be a very paint type dependent thing but.
I have a heated shop to paint it in. Respirator and suction ventilation.
Should I use a primer on the truck?
It was originally black, then someone painted it white, now I am painting it white again.
Do I primer it or just paint the white and red? Fenders are currently red.
Any tips you can think of that would help. As I said I understand the basics I have just never painted automotive quality before.
