Truck painting inspired by fall
Today I’m sharing how to turn a 3-D die-cut wooden pickup truck from Dollar Tree into cute Fall decor.
I love seeing all the new fall decor introduced into the stores each year. I just don’t love most of the prices. So whenever I see a super simple, inexpensive DIY project I’m all over it.

I recently mentioned this 3-D die-cut wooden pickup truck in Dollar Tree Treasures #117. It’s a Dollar Tree Crafter’s Square item and I was thrilled to have found it before they were sold out! I immediately knew that I was going to use it for a Fall decor project.
Having seen many a cute pickup truck, all dressed up with pumpkins and hay bales, I was inspired to create my own. I bought three of them and figured I could experiment with decorating them.
Initially I painted one truck white, put some Dollar Tree black and orange buffalo check pumpkins in the back and added some Dollar Tree mini hay bales to complete the vignette.
While I liked the overall look, I still felt like the truck was missing something. So I added a cute fall sticker/decal to complete the look. I also replaced the pumpkins with mini hay bales and added some Dollar Tree mini sunflowers into the mix.
Then I thought: so why not try a different paint color? So out came the pale blue acrylic paint. Again, I added a sweet fall decal, mini hay bales and some mini sunflowers. The Dollar Tree fall sign as shared in Dollar Tree Treasures#17 rounded out the vignette nicely.
No matter how you decide to decorate these wooden pickup trucks, just make them your own using embellishments that you love. The possibilities are endless.
Dollar Tree Crafter’s Square Pickup Truck DIY Fall Pumpkins Decor
1. 3-D die cut wooden pickup truck (I got mine at Dollar Tree, but if you can’t find one in your area you can purchase a similar pumpkin truck wood cutout).
2. Rust-oleum Chalked P aint in Linen White (or any color/brand of paint of your choice)
5. Mini hay bales (I got mine at Dollar Tree).
1. Paint your truck.
2. Once the paint is dry, add any stickers or decals to it.
3. Glue a mini hay bale in place inside the truck as extra support for the other bales you’ll be stacking up (since the middle of the truck is virtually empty but for two small pieces of wood that are holding its front and back together).
4. Glue two hay bales together and place them in the truck on top of the base hay bale. Then add the third decorative hay bale to fill the back of the truck (seen in photo below).
5. Add any other embellishments you’d like, i.e., sunflowers, to complete the vignette.
Well, that’s it for today, friends!
