Arlington Heights Spring Window Painting

Arlington Heights Spring Window Painting

Arlington residents are invited to participate in the Arlington Heights Spring Storefront Window Painting Event, which will take place on Saturday, May 20, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Paint a window by yourself or grab your friend or family and paint a window together in one of 60+ designated storefront windows in 24 Heights businesses.

Designs must have a spring theme – flowers, trees, birds, insects, etc. We also invite community painters to go beyond painting the beauty of spring blooms by including simple messages and/or steps that people can take to protect our environment and promote eco-diversity in their yards and town wide. Imagine sunflowers filled with native bumble bees, milkweed that nourishes monarch butterflies, a healthy Alewife Brook full of herring, and owls free from the threat of eating poison along with their natural prey! Let your creativity bloom!

Register online at www.arlcc.org for this event. Entries are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Space is guaranteed to the first 64 entries.

Online Registration: Saturday, April 8 to Saturday April 22 (two weeks)

A $25 registration fee covers paint supplies purchased locally (an assortment of paint brushes and acrylic paints in a pre-selected color palette, which will be available to painters on the day of the event).

After the registration closing date, painters will be emailed their randomly chosen window assignments, a rules and information flyer, and a list of window painting supplies and tips.

Eligibility: Anyone who resides in Arlington or attends school in Arlington is eligible to participate in this event. Painters under age 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

The paintings will remain on display throughout the spring and will be on view at the “Height’s Spring Fling Festival” on Saturday, June 10, 2-5pm, which will feature live music, an Artists Pop-Up Store, a variety of family fun activities and 20+ community information tables on how to ensure environmental sustainability.

These public events are organized by the Arlington Heights Community Association (AHCA) in partnership with the Arlington Chamber of Commerce and the Arlington Commission for Arts and Culture.

The AHCA is a group of Heights business owners, residents and non-profits who meet monthly to address local concerns, support beautification projects, and organize public events such as the storefront window paintings and festivals to promote vibrant community engagement and support local businesses.

We welcome new volunteers. If you would like to attend one of our monthly Thursday morning meetings, volunteer at future Heights events, or donate money to support our beautification projects and the festival, please contact Janet O’Riordan, [email protected]
