Diy art themed birthday party

I pulled out some more crafting supplies to decorate the craft table. Thank goodness I’m a craft supply hoarder.

I’m so excited to finally have a chance to write this post. This was my son’s 3rd birthday party we had back in February (I know almost 10 months ago). At the time he really wasn’t into anything specific so I thought why not have an art/craft party for the kids. What kid doesn’t love to craft??

The best part about this party is I already had ALL the crafting supplies on hand. I just had to create a couple pieces myself, and I had them done in no time.

Display Table

My inspiration for the display table started with the Pottery Barn Watercolor Palette for the kids playroom. I thought it would worked great especially, since BIRTHDAY fit perfectly on it. I paired it off with a simple “HAPPY” banner I made using my “Handy Dandy” Silhouette and some more Watercolor Art for my sons name.

I dipped some pre-made rice krispie treats in colored chocolate that I got from Michaels and added a craft stick at the top. Looks like a cute paint brush!

Easy DIY Kids Art Themed Birthday Party - DIY Party Paint Cans

I’ve been saving some old baby formula containers to use for a project. I thought why not make them look like paint cans. I added some colored cardstock around the cans using some hot glue and cutting it to look like the paint was dripping.

I used my Silhouette machine again to make my art palette with some scrapbook paper. I was so happy with how it turned out!

Creative Juices Station

This party I kept it simple with the food. I already had a ton of goodies on the display table. The kids always love their green juice. It’s been named “the burp juice” because they say it makes them burp. So it’s become a staple at all the parties. But for this party we called it “Creative Juice”.

I added touches of crafting supplies to to table and some pretzels sticks dipped in colored chocolate to look like paint brushes.

Art Activities

Well, of course we had to have painting of some sort. I purchased a set of mini canvases and easels for all the girls. I was going to set a vase of pretty flowers in the middle of the table and have the girls paint those, but Evie insisted on letting each girl paint whatever they wanted. So each girl got to paint their own masterpiece. I still set the vase of flowers in the center incase anyone was having a hard time coming up with an idea.

After painting their masterpiece we moved onto a fun craft. I played off of Evie’s birthday being close to Christmas, so we made “Starry Starry Night” Star Ornaments. I displayed the Starry Starry Night Painting for them to see and then gave each girl a wooden star ornament. Before the party I cut small pieces of tissue paper in black, blue, yellow (all the colors that can be found in the painting). We then used mod podge to glue the tissue paper onto to the wood star. Attached the string so the girls could take them home and put them on their Christmas tree. I love how creative the girls got with this. Some of them laid the tissue flat on the star and others scrunched it up. It was fun to see how they each did it a little different.

Party Decorations

My girl wanted to go with pastel colors for her party. I found these really cool tissue paper back drops. These were extremely easy to set up, just attach it to the wall with a push pin and then let it accordion its way down to the ground. Took me 5 minutes to hang them all. I used a black and white table cloth to add some boldness with all the pastels. I really like how that looked. Some pretty balloons, colorful tulips and the “Life is a Masterpiece” sign I downloaded and printed from home. Other favorite decorations were the mini paint cans I used to hold veggies, the adorable paint themed cookies in the shape of paint splatters and paint brushes and lastly the giant paint pallet snack board I made.

For the art tables I continued with the bold black and white tablecloth and the colorful tulips. I displayed the canvases and easels along the edge of the table with a small plastic paint pallet from the dollar store, paint brush and a paint sample (just for cuteness). I lined up all the paints down the middle of the table. Not only did it look so cute, it worked great for the girls so they could easily grab the colors they wanted.

Party Favors

As a Thank You to our guests we sent them home with mini packs of colorful bath fizz and a mini watercolor paint set. I stuck a squiggly paint straw through the ribbon and tied an adorable gift tag to it that read ” Thank You, Friends make life Colorful”. You can download and print these from home by clicking HERE.
